{"id":3254,"date":"2023-05-02T06:27:11","date_gmt":"2023-05-02T06:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thermibel.be\/faq\/what-do-we-need-to-bear-in-mind-when-using-rtds\/"},"modified":"2023-06-27T11:18:07","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T11:18:07","slug":"what-do-we-need-to-bear-in-mind-when-using-rtds","status":"publish","type":"faq","link":"https:\/\/thermibel.be\/en\/faq\/what-do-we-need-to-bear-in-mind-when-using-rtds\/","title":{"rendered":"What do we need to bear in mind when using RTDs?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Resistance thermometer systems are susceptible to three types of errors:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The tolerances inherent in the resistance itself<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The temperature gradients between the thermometer and the medium to be measured<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The errors and defects in the connection between the sensor and the measuring instrument.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Some sources of error are electric; others result from the mechanical construction of the thermometer. Potential sources of error include interchangeability and conformity. Conformity indicates <strong>the extent to which deviation from the standard curve is permissible.<\/strong> Conformity has two components: a tolerance at the reference temperature, normally 0\u00b0C, and a tolerance on the slope.  <\/p>\n\n<p>These possible deviations are defined in the standards. For example, the standard DIN 43760 class B requires calibration at less than 0.12\u03a9 (0.3\u00b0C) at 0\u00b0C, but allows the curve to deviate from the nominal 0.00385 by \u00b10.000012 \u03a9\/\u03a9\/\u00b0C.
